While Ruth’s home country has few Christians, she grew up in a Christian home. Her mother also grew up in a Christian family, but her father’s family practices a different major world faith. Her father began following Jesus while attending a Christian college – the same place where he met Ruth’s mother.

After they married, Ruth was their first child. Going to church was a normal part of her life. By the time she went to middle school, she was involved in ministry at her church.

“We had a quiet Christian strength in our family,” she recalls.

But it wasn’t until high school that the faith of Ruth’s family became her own. After spending years at a Christian school, she switched to a government school for high school. This increased her exposure to people who practiced other religions. In fact, most of her friends came from the same faith as her father’s family.

This increased her curiosity about her own faith. She attended a youth Bible study and studied Scriptures deeply to understand them. Soon she found that she desired her own relationship with Jesus.

“[Jesus] changed my whole life…,” she says.
